The Dolphins group builds on the skills learned in the Learn to Swim programme. At this stage, swimmers begin to refine technique, develop stamina, and prepare for more structured training.
Assessment Criteria
Technique & Skills:
Front crawl: 10 metres with controlled breathing and good body position
Backstroke: 10 metres with straight arms and steady kick
Breaststroke: 10 metres with correct timing and glide phase
Butterfly: 10 metres with simultaneous arm and leg action
Streamlining: Push and glide from wall in a streamlined position
Turns: Basic understanding of turns for each stroke
Sculling: Demonstrate basic sculling on back and front
Endurance & Control:
Swim 25 metres continuously using any stroke
Tread water for 30 seconds
Perform a safe entry into deep water
Show controlled breathing across all strokes
Understanding & Readiness
Follow lane etiquette and coach instructions
Show awareness of stroke rules and technique corrections
Demonstrate focus and readiness for structured training
What Comes Next?
Once swimmers consistently meet these criteria, they may be invited to progress to our Piranhas group, where training intensity increases and competition preparation begins.
