WELFARE IS PARAMOUNT

At Wellington Swimming Club, the welfare of our swimmers, volunteers, and members is our highest priority. We follow Swim England’s Wavepower 2024 guidance, which now includes both child and adult safeguarding.

Who to Contact

Club Welfare Officer - Your first point of contact for any safeguarding or welfare concerns—whether you're a swimmer, parent, carer, or volunteer.

County Welfare Officer - If you feel uncomfortable speaking to someone within the club, Shropshire ASA can guide you through the next steps: www.shropshire-asa.com/welfare

Swim England Safeguarding Team - [email protected] or Rasie a concern with Swim England

IN AN EMERGENCY

If you believe a child or adult is at immediate risk of harm and cannot reach the Club Welfare Officer or Swim England Safeguarding Team, contact:

  • Police
  • Children’s Social Care / MASH
  • NSPCC Child Protection Helpline – 0808 800 5000

Please record:

  • The name and contact details of the person you spoke to
  • Any incident or referral reference number

Report this to the Club Welfare Officer and Swim England Safeguarding Team as soon as possible, ideally the next working day. Note: Parents/guardians should be informed only if they are not involved in the concern.

Changing Room Policy

To protect all members, mobile phone use is strictly prohibited in changing areas during Swim England-regulated activity.

Safeguarding Training

All roles requiring safeguarding training must complete the Swim England Safeguarding course.

Welfare Officers must also complete Time to Listen training, renewed every 3 years.

Safer Recruitment

We follow Swim England’s mandatory safer recruitment procedures for paid roles in regulated activity. This includes DBS checks, references, and safeguarding training.
