At Wellington (Telford) ASC, we’re passionate about helping swimmers reach their full potential. Our development squads are designed to give children the best possible instruction at the right time—so they build strong foundations and grow into confident, capable athletes.

A seamless Pathway from Learn to Swim to Competition

We work closely with Wellington Leisure Centre to ensure that children who don’t yet meet our entry criteria are supported through the Learn to Swim programme. This partnership gives every child the opportunity to progress toward club-level swimming or water polo.

Our Methodology: Skill First. Age-Appropriate. LTAD-Aligned.

Our swimming pathway is carefully structured to:

• Introduce essential swim skills earlier in a swimmer’s journey
• Prepare swimmers for competition by building technique and confidence from the start
• Support both competitive swimming and water polo as long-term options

We teach skills in order of importance, and we only introduce new techniques when swimmers are mentally and physically ready—in line with Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles.

This means:

• No rushing through stages
• No skipping fundamentals
• Every swimmer gets the right skill at the right time
