The Sharks group is where swimmers begin to train like athletes. We focus on refining technique, building endurance, and introducing competitive elements in a supportive, skill-focused environment. This is the final stage before full squad integration.
Assessment Criteria
Stroke Mastery:
Front crawl: 50 metres with bilateral breathing, efficient kick, and consistent rhythm
Backstroke: 50 metres with strong body position and legal turns
Breaststroke: 50 metres with correct timing, glide, and race-legal technique
Butterfly: 25–50 metres with continuous rhythm and legal finish
Indivdual Medley (IM): wim 100m IM with correct stroke order and transitions
Competitive Readiness:
Starts: Dive from blocks or side with streamlined entry
Turns: Legal turns for all strokes, including IM transitions
Finishes: Two-hand or one-hand finishes as appropriate
Lane discipline: Understand pace clock, rest intervals, and lane etiquette
Race awareness: Basic understanding of competition rules and meet formats
Physical & Mental Readiness
Swim 200 metres continuously using multiple strokes
Tread water for 60 seconds
Demonstrate resilience, focus, and coachability
Take ownership of warm-up routines and post-set recovery
What Comes Next?
Swimmers who meet Sharks criteria may be invited to join our Junior Competitive Squad, where training volume increases and swimmers begin entering licensed meets.
